Projection-based theaters come in a few different flavors. Major categories include rear projection and front projection. Both have many sub-categories such as DLP, LCD, and DILA. Projection theaters generally offer the most "bang-for-the-buck" and are capable of tremendously large viewing areas. Projection works best in areas where ambient light is highly controlled. Unless all of your viewing will be at night or you have black-out window screens, a sun porch is not a good place for this type of theater. Projection based theaters are either dedicated theaters or multi-use theaters. A dedicated theater is only used for watching movies or other home entertainment. Multi-use theaters double as a home theater and other living space (such as a living room or family room).
